At St John Paul II College, we care for all, protect all, reach out to all, and seek the well-being of all. Our highest priority is ensuring the safety, welfare and wellbeing of all children and young people. Through our processes and policies, we are dedicated to safeguarding and protecting them from harm. We have zero tolerance to child abuse.
It is my pleasure to welcome you to St John Paul II College. We are a co-educational secondary school serving families in the north of Canberra.
At St John Paul II College we strive for excellence in teaching so that our students are offered every opportunity to achieve success in their learning. In partnership with families, we aim to develop faith-filled, purposeful citizens who are committed to making a difference in the world. We do this through our carefully planned faith formation, spirituality, and social justice activities, and through classroom learning, pastoral care and wellbeing initiatives. We are blessed to have supportive and expert teaching and professional staff who nurture your child’s growth and learning. Our school is a place where all students are treated with respect and dignity.
Our College campus is strikingly modern and inviting, and we are fortunate to enjoy state-of-the-art facilities in which we learn and work. Although we are a young school, our students are happy, engaged, and responsible. Our very creditable results with our senior students at the end of Year 12 bear witness to the quality of the learning and teaching at the College. In 2024, 31% of students studying a tertiary course received an ATAR above 80. Alexandar Ratajkoski our College Dux, achieved an ATAR of 98.75, followed closely behind by Leanne Sheather as Proxime Accessit with an ATAR of 97.65. Similarly, students who engaged in the Accredited Pathway have round themselves readily engaged in apprenticeships, traineeships, and further study of their choice.
I encourage you to have a good look at our website, and if you are interested in enrolling your child in the future, please call our College Office on (02) 6163 4800 to arrange a College tour.
Our school is growing. We have the largest intake into Year 7 in 2025, in the College’s history. This is a testament to the faith that parents have in our school. We are steadfastly working towards being a school of academic excellence and continuous improvement. Our new strategic plan outlines our goals and vision for our combined future.
Be sure to come and visit to see our new library, opening this year. We will now have dedicated space for reading, research, and relaxing with books and digital resources.
I look forward to welcoming you to our College.
Dr Craig Wattam
Principal
As we enter a new school year at St John Paul II College, we are filled with enthusiasm and anticipation for the year ahead. Each new school year offers a fresh start, a chance to set new goals, and an opportunity to grow together as a school community. Being a young school, we are privileged to build the traditions and values of justice, peace, and courage that will shape the JPC community for many years to come.
Our journey as a school has been one of continuous growth, and this year promises to be no different. Under the guidance of our principal, Dr Wattam, and alongside the 2025 student leadership team, we are committed to strengthening our school spirit by creating an environment that encourages every student to reach their full potential.
This year, we invite you to embrace the opportunities ahead with open hearts and minds. We look forward to seeing the incredible things we can accomplish as a JPC community.
Wishing everyone a successful and fulfilling year!
