Our School

We are a Catholic co-educational College in Nicholls in Gungahlin. We commenced in 2013 with an intake of Year 7 students and have been adding a year group every year. 2018 is the first year we became a 7-12 College. Together with Good Shepherd Amaroo, Holy Spirit Nicholls and Mother Teresa Harrison, we are very proud to be offering a P-12 Catholic pathway in Gungahlin, ACT.

We are a flagship college of best practice in education for the local community of the region offering a unique, innovative educational environment to prepare and equip students for the future. The physical design of St John Paul II College facilitates the educational philosophy with open, flexible, adaptable spaces designed for team teaching and meeting the needs of every student. College structures and timetable are also adapted to the vision.

The campus, in beautifully landscaped grounds, is state of the art with every aspect of the building designed to foster an inspiring environment in which to learn.

The College’s pastoral care structure is House based. This means that there is a vertical pastoral care structure based on Houses. This structure, which combines year groups together in pastoral care groups, facilitates student leadership and relationship building between students and enables the mentoring of younger students by their older peers. Within the House structure, mentor teachers take responsibility for small pastoral care groups, providing pastoral care and academic mentoring. They also work in partnership with parents to maximize learning outcomes for each student.
