Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Student Group
The College respects and celebrates Indigenous cultures as rich and living traditions. Students are invited to lead and take part in an Indigenous Group, through which knowledge is shared across the school community. Indigenous students work with staff to coordinate whole-of-school events marking NAIDOC Week and Sorry Day; as well as other cultural and awareness activities initiated by students.
The group is supported by an Aboriginal Contact Teacher who works closely with the students, meeting with them once a week to set goals and check academic progress and well-being. The Contact Teacher also organises additional support, including some one-on-one tutoring if needed. In 2016, the group will have its home in a beautiful purpose-created space.
